Came across this article about music sales in 2007. Here is the part about Amerie...
We need a sustained improvement in the industry's celebration and promotion of great talent. Excellent music was made in 2007, and most of it was barely heard. I'm not even talking about the music that is difficult to absorb, such as M.I.A.'s "Kala.” Instead, let's talk about the best R&B record that U.S. audiences could not hear in 2007 without paying $30 for an import: Amerie's "Because I Love It.”
For those who loved the singer's 2005 hit, "1 Thing,” a song that evoked classic "go-go” dance rave-ups while riding a Supremes-style melody on top of a drum sample from the Meters, "Because I Love It” was pure manna from heaven. The horns were wilder, the rhythms were organic, Amerie sings her heart out on the disc, and her overseas single, "Gotta Work,” was a killer. Furthermore, and not to be crass about it, but Amerie is, shall we say, extremely marketable?
But her label, Sony, delayed the stateside release of "Because I Love It.” Then it was delayed some more. Then EW.com released a list last week of artists who were either dropped from major labels or jumped willingly. Amerie was near the top of the list.
If you cannot market Amerie, you probably couldn't sell ice in Ecuador. I don't want to dump unduly on Sony — there is plenty of blame to go around. But the funny thing is, I might have even bought a Platinum Music Pass for that one.

|
Hopefully we will find out more about the situation that is going down with Amerie and Sony soon because according to Entertainment Weekly's Hollywood Insider blog Amerie has been dropped from Sony.. Because I Love It is a AWESOME album and we know Amerie is a very motivated person so I'm going to be optimistic about this news because I'm sure she is going to bounce back.

| » Amerie's Trip To South Africa [11.12.07] --- |
|
Amerie went to South Africa to make a cameo in a video for a South African artist named HHP. Read the article below.
Sizzling American R&B star Amerie, adores South Africa. Her only complaint? Her visit was too short.
The singing sensation was in the country for the MTV Making a Video with Shell during which a music video was filed for South African hip hop star HHP and in which Amerie makes a cameo appearance.
She also managed to squeeze in one performance at Taboo in Sandton, where she shared the stage with HHP.
“I am so glad to be in South Africa,” Amerie said. “I have just come back from a tour in Tokyo. This country is amazing and I have loved being part of the HHP video.”

| » 3rd Music Video Is "Crush" [11.11.07] --- |
|
This is honestly the best news I have heard in a long time! Amerie has finished her 3rd music video and she decided to go with "Crush"! Yes the best song on the album is going to be the 3rd single. It's the same director that directed "Take Control" and "Gotta Work", I'm really hoping the video for "Crush" is going to be much better than those two because honestly those were her worst music videos imo. I can't wait to see the video though!

| » Amerie Offers Beauty Tips [11.11.07] --- |
|
Fresh from her MOBO nomination, US R'n'B sensation Amerie talks to us about her beauty regime..
In my make-up bag there is... plenty of mascara. I’ve tried them all. Maybelline Great Lash is nice, but the best is Lancôme Hypnôse, £18.50, because it’s so thick and makes my eyelashes so long. Two coats and it’s almost like I’m wearing false lashes.
I couldn’t live without... NARS Blusher in Taj Mahal (£18.50). It’s just the best blusher ever – my sister put me onto it. In the pot it’s a rich Indian orange, but once it’s on it just gives my face a really nice glow.
My worst beauty crime was...when I was in high school. I got this idea that I’d look really beautiful with a beauty spot so I had this pimple and I picked it and picked it until it scarred. Actually, no one else can see it, but I can. How stupid was I?
I keep my skin looking best with... lots of sleep, and pure, food-grade, sweet almond oil. A lot of people seem to think it’s bad to use oil on your face, but it’s great for you. If I have any kind of irritation, it just calms it down. (Try Quinessence Almond Oil, £3.30.)
The perfume I love right now is... Hugo Deep Red, £34. It’s very sexy with a deep sensual smell – definitely a night-time scent. I like scents to be quite woody and earthy, I don’t like smelling like a bouquet.
I think botox is... probably not for me. I really believe in organic eating and, while I don’t think there’s anything wrong with other people doing it, the idea of putting a chemical into my face puts me off.

After a long hiatus I finally made some time to work on the website and reopen with a new layout. I'm not going anywhere this time. Lets see since I last updated the website it was before Amerie's wonderful album "Because I love It" had came out. Sadly it still hasn't been released in the US, but it has been released in various countries overseas, and was well recieved in the UK. Sadly the right marketing by her record label was not done. The album is awesome, to me her best work to date. Don't get me wrong "All I have" is MY r&b album to listen to, but "Because I Love It" is filled with very good songs. Hopefully her record label will see the potential with this album and release it in the US with a hit song like "Crush".
On another note every page I will be adding alot of content to the website within the coming weeks so keep checking back. :)

Amerie is featured on Chingy's new album "Hate It Or Love It" out December 11th. The track is titled "Fly Like Me" and will be the lead single for his new album.
About the track Chingy had to say
"It’s a fun record, it’s really talkin’ about how I traveled the world, been a lot of places, seen a lot of women, but it’s this one woman that really attracts me, that’s got me head over heels for her, and one day she’s gonna possibly end up being my future wife."

Grammy nominee Amerie will visit local shores next month.
She will be in South Africa for an MTV Base and Shell music video workshop with one local artist, who will be chosen by music fans.
MTV Base and Shell are offering five African artists the opportunity to have a video shot, edited and produced by an internationally acclaimed music video crew and the R&B star.
The campaign kicks off in on November 5 with legendary video director Nick Queste.
Queste has directed more than 100 videos for top artists, including Timbaland, Diddy and Brandy.
Amerie will jet into the country on November 8. After their stay in South Africa, the crew will hold workshops in Gabon, Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria.
On completion of the workshops, MTV Base will produce a series of five half-hour television “documentaries”, entitled MTV Making the Video with Shell.
The series will chart the progress of the five separate music video shoots and feature the premiere of the artists’ videos.
To vote for your favourite South African artist, send an SMS with the word VIDEO followed by the name of the artist to 34001.
Voters will stand the chance of winning a walk-on role in the video with one of South Africa’s top artist and Amerie.
